Sharing process models using Cawemo and Signavio

Since a few years I am investigating Free and Open Source modeling tools such as: Bizagi Process Modeler and Studio, BOC Adonis Process Modeler, BeePMN.

After having signed up with Cawemo a few weeks ago, today I looked at how it works. Cawemo (www.cawemo.com) is the Process Design Collaboration Environment of Camunda.

Since Signavio is my preferred tool I downloaded a process model which I created a while back for a workshop / training for students.

I regularly test the interoperability between tools - meaning take a model created with one tool and import it in another tool.

During the training I tried to demonstrate interoperability with some modelling tools (Bizagi, Camunda, Signavio, Modelio (eclipse), yaoqiang) . And of course there are almost always problems with Annotations, Data Objects attached to tasks, and other little things.

So I did not expect much; but guess what things went perfect. Even more than expected. If you start Cawemo you create a project and you can drop a BPMN file onto the canvas and Cawemo automatically imports the file. So I downloaded the Signavio file and dropped it onto the Canvas and here are the results:
